Camp Overview
A week filled with learning, laughter, and leadership.
District 5580 RYLA brings together students from across Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Ontario for a week of growth, teamwork, and discovery.
RYLA is a week-long leadership camp held each summer at the University of Minnesota Crookston. Students stay on campus, work in teams, and take part in hands-on activities designed to help them explore who they are and how they can make a difference.
What Makes RYLA Unique
Every part of the week is built around connection and collaboration. Campers learn from experienced facilitators — but just as importantly, they learn from themselves and each other. Leadership at RYLA means listening, communicating, and recognizing the strengths in others.
What to Expect
- Team Challenges: Build trust, practice problem-solving, and celebrate success together.
- Workshops & Speakers: Hear from educators, Rotarians, and community leaders who share what leadership looks like in action. The curriculum centers around Sean Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.
- Reflection Time: Quiet moments to think, write, and connect with your small group.
- Service & Community: Learn how small actions can make a big difference.
- Fun & Friendship: Laughter and memories that last long after the week ends.

A Supportive Staff Team
RYLA is run by a volunteer staff made up of Rotarians, educators, and RYLA alumni. Staff members guide campers through the week, facilitate workshops, and ensure every participant feels welcome and supported.
